these past 4 months, since my last post - was full of ups and downs. put dat aside. anyway, i had d opportunity to take a 4-day vacation to Bandung, Indonesia. i was on sick leave on d 14th when i got d call fr my cuzzy asking if id b interested (we were talking bout it jus a few days bak during a bbq dinner at her place) - of course im interested! nex thing i kno, i was already in bandung on the 19th. speaking of short notice, luckily my boss didnt question d reason for my leave application (which in my opinion is none of his business) - thnx boss :)
ive heard lots bout bandung being the shopper's heaven and what not, which got me a lil bit too exited. i brought all cash i had access to (thank God it was mid month-otherwise i wouldve left a very deep hole in my bank ac) and spent it all, which im quite good at. before i left for bandung, all i could care of was shopping - didnt even think bout sight seeing or anytin else.
so, on 19th morning, we (me, cuzzy, aunt & grand aunt) took a direct flight to bandung. the 2hr flight was fine and the flight attendants were so frenly and one of them even told us of the must visit places there, which is so nice of him (he asked us to also visit the safari park - erkkk - no tq). touched down at noon local time, with our supir cum tour guide - Dadang, waiting outside.
we first went to check in (and check out) the hotel (my aunt said if she doesnt like d plc, we're gona find a different plc to stay at). surprisingly, for the price we paid, the hotel is very nice - cosy, clean and very peaceful. after checking in, we left for lunch at a Padang restaurant. i was teribbly hungry and luckily Padang food happens to be one of my fave. yummy! as it was a saturday, Dadang said its best to avoid the over crowded places so we went to the not-so-busy side of the town after lunch. we went to jl sukajadi - they have rows of factory outlets there.

we finished around 0630 local time and it was already dark meaning its time for dinner. Dadang wanted to take us some plc special at Dago Hill. when we got to the restaurant, then i realized y its so special - you could see the whole of bandung city fr that point - simply a magnificent view. according to Dadang, a local celeb owns the place. went back to the hotel feeling tired but very anxious about our 2nd day.
2nd day - Sunday. another busy day in bandung. Dadang got it all planned so half d day was spent for sight seeing. first thing in d morning, we went up Mount Tangkuban Perahu and on our way up, Dadang
proudly told us the 'dongeng' behind existence of this plc. the mountain happens to be an active volcano! but it is so beautiful - the view was breathtaking :) lunch dat day was special...we went to kg daun (i initially tot we were goin to somebody's village or sumtin) which is a beautiful resort like restaurant. the food was great and the place - oh so cozy! after lunch, we proceed to d strawberry farm - 'Kavling Stroberi'. picked 2 basket full of fresh strawberries and packed half of it to take back to d hotel and d other half was made into juice - cold fresh strawberry juice on a hot sunny day - yummy! we managed to go the Danar Hadi - finest batik store in Indonesia, and later we headed to a Bakso restaurant for dinner. to my surprise, it doesnt taste at all like the local bakso in malaysia - its actually dried noodle, eaten with beef ball soup and chili paste - yummy. otw bak to d hotel, stopped by at Kartika Sari, one of the famous bakery der to buy some 'kuih' - cakes and tid bits for snacking. it was a tiring day and we all slept like babies dat nite :)
3rd day in bandung was slightly different - in d morning d ppl were busy getting to work, so it was a different kind of busy compared to the weekend. first we went to Danar Hadi again - got dad a batik shirt. then we went to Pasar Baru - its like a modern day bazaar with ac n all, well kept and we
ll lit however it was a bit suffocating as the plc is enclosed (cant imagine if there was a fire). Lunch der was so delicious - went to the food court on the 6th fl (lantai 6 in indon). i had rice with sotong stuffed with scrambled egg and minced chicken accompanied with sambal tumis - yummy! after lunch, we went to Diaz - handbag and shoes heaven - definitely not for the penniless :) the bags are all so nice, imitation but 1st copy, and genuine leather. unfortunately, i wasnt planning to buy one due to financial matters and so i didnt. it was after Diaz dat me and cuzzy had the chance to go to rumah Mode - our most awaited factory outlet. got quite a few nice tops there which i think is simply worth buying and coming to bandung for. spent a few hours der before heading to jl cibaduyut - a street that strictly sells shoes and bags. some would prolly assume dat i bought stuffs der, but i did not - oh, only some shoe-shaped keychains and a bag for my sis. after a short stroll der as it was already dark when we arrived, we headed to to restaurant Suharti. their specialty is fried chicken and i have to agree, the chicken is delicious - and d soto too, and the juice too, and...hehe - dats all. with our 'tanks' filled up to the brim, we went back to d hotel - not to sleep yet but to pack up. there was a lot of rolling, squeezing, sighing and weighing going on that nite :)
last day - 22nd july. the plan was to have bfast at d hotel, check out and leave for the airport. i wanted to stop at kartika sari but its jus out of d way. wen we arrived at d airport, i realized there's a shop dat sells 'kuih' so i bought layered cake, cheese stick and brownies (for my siblings - they've been talking bout it ever since i said i was goin to bandung). we checked in shortly after dat, and paid like rp30000 each to go n sit at the airport lounge coz d flight was like an hour away. inside the terminal ders a shop dat sells more 'kuih' so i had d opportunity to finish my rupiah - i bought more brownies - steamed and baked - and my hand luggage became unbearable to carry :D
touched down at sepang around 330 our time and my uncle was so nice to come and pick us all up. all in all, it was a nice breakaway - could definitely use more of this :)
