an hour ago, the office blacked out and its a pity for some who didnt get to save their work (office lemah ni xde UPS). lucky for me, i was "bubble towning", no loss on my part. i was hoping the situation would last until late afternoon but my prayers weren't answered, n dats why im doin this now :) i got a few things on my mind right now and these are some of it:

Scenario 1:

i was talking to one of my colleague yesterday eve before leaving for home and she said another colleague had asked her why she is letting the younger girls not call her 'kakak', because according to her its a sign of respect.

Scenario 2:

i was quite busy tis morning when my boss called saying he won't be coming in today, and he later asked to talk to one his manager. not wanting to shout at the top of my lungs calling him to let him kno my boss is waiting on the line (becoz i cudnt transfer d call as he wasnt in his room), i went over to him, called his name and he gave me the "talk to d hand" gesture. with a raised voice, i told him his boss wants to talk to him and walked off.

these stuff really gets to me - i have to admit dat im easily irritated and annoyed. im a strong believer dat respect is not given, but EARNED. do you actually believe dat by being a few years older, im obligated to respect you? or becoz u're of a higher ranking in the organization hierarchy, i haf to look up to you? or becoz u drive a better car or make more money, u deserve my respect? sorry to say this but damn u're WRONG!!!

u can be 50 years older than me and i wont respect you. it doesnt mean dat if uve lived so long u are noble. living for 50 years doesnt necessarily make you smarter than me becoz wisdom only comes to those who welcomes it. or, if you feel ure more superior coz u're empowered to do more in the organization, all i could say is i cudnt give a damn coz if u're weak and a butt kisser, u're definitely not 'bigger' than me. as for other materials, it will eventually come to you - if its a race, you will never reach the finish line.

if anybody would like to question my view on this matter, you are most welcome. i am brought up in a culture dat teaches me to respect others and i do respect a lot of people, be it young or old, no matter wat social class these people belong to. i could justify that these people earned my respect (i know its not a great thing but im trying to make a point here) becoz they carry themselves well.

sometimes i may sound as if im ungrateful but really, i am grateful to be employed but the people that i have to bear with every working day here, they're an eye opener of the real world...an less than a handful still have my respect.
