it has been a week since my last entry, if you're wondering, i've been running around endlessly for the last two weeks but last week really took its toll on me. dont get me started on those things coz it makes me wanna slap my boss' head, hehehe, u kno, for fun really.
on friday the 15th, i was expecting a relaxing day and since i tot most of my job for the week is 'done', i was a lil excited bout going to penang for my cousin's engagement. my father and i had planned to leave after maghrib prayers but since my youngest bro refused to attend tuition dat nite, we decided to leave earlier, that is right after i reach home from work that eve. since this is not a hate-entry, i'll only tell the good parts. back to my trip, after finishing up my work in fast-forward mode, i managed to leave at 530 sharp dat eve and traffic wasnt so bad heading back home and i reached at around 615. from wat i could recall, i spent less than 20mins at home and only had time finish packing (which was half way done d nite before), freshen up a lil (x mandi ye, jus cuci muka yg penat berminyak) and then we took off. jus me, my father and my sister.
for those who are not from the north, driving down to penang takes approximately 4hours if you take only one stop, and dats exactly wat we did dat eve. after one hour drive, we took a quick stop at the rawang rest area, and then it was all d way to penang for d next 3 hours.
by d time we reached penang, it was about 11pm and my father decided to get something to eat since he was already hungry because he took his dinner at 6pm and we went around town when he suddenly remembered "nasik beratur" which is sold on jalan masjid kapitan keling, a street full of jewellery shop including d first habib jewel. anyway, my father had to queue for like half an hour to get 2 packets of rice, mmg "beratur" ye, but it was worth the queue, altho a lil pricy.
at midnite, we finally arrived at d hotel and since we have called informing of late check in, it took only about 5mins to get d keys to our rooms. first, my father opened his door and went in. then i opened d door to my room and as we (myself n sister) entered, der was an awful smell, which i suspect is from the sewage system. dah la midnite, and we're all tired from travelling, suddenly bau busuk plak. how do u expect us to sleep?? im not very pleasant when im tired so my father took d honor of calling d management to complain and within 30mins, we were transferred to another room, on d same floor but not adjacent. nvm dat, as long as we dont have to bear the stench. tis time, it was a better room, i suspect its a suite, which was nicer and a lot bigger.
come saturday morning, i was wide awake 5mins before 8. tensionnye, penat but i cant sleep. no thanks to my hps, pagi2 buta dh bising. once i jumped out of bed, my father came to our room and brought breakfast (apam telur which was heavenly). right after dat, we all got ready for d engagement, mandi2 and iron baju and left d hotel since my aunt invited us for lunch at her place and we were d first to arrive, which was a good thing because at least we got to help a lil with some preparations.
the rombongan meminang came at about 3pm, and discussion took place immediately and lasted for 45mins. once they came to an agreement, my cousin farhah came down for the 'sarung cincin' and 'suap gula' which is d norm. as usual, the cousins were the 'tray girls', not because we wanted to be in d picture, but we jus had to.

as for d hantaran, it was prepared by farhah's eldest sister, with help from her niece, dee and a friend i was told. by d time i got at her plc, most of d things were ready so i only got to help with some minor last minute decoration.
dat saturday noon, it was blazing hot and as usual, i was sweating like a p*g. by d time d ceremony ended, it was nearly 5pm and shortly after dat, my dad sent me back to d hotel while my sister joined her other cousins and went to d mall. tidak lah sanggup nk bjalan2 in baju kurung moreover dh peluh mcm hujan, pengsan plak people at d mall nanti.
while i was resting alone in my room, my bestie from uni buzzed as he knew of my plan of coming to penang for d weekend and insisted we meet up dat nite so he cud introduce me to his new gf. so after a brief dinner, i showered and waited for them to pick me up. initially i tot we'd go for a drink at midlands one-stop, which is attached to d hotel, but d gf suggested we go to gurney drive. malam sabtu beb, where got parking right? so we went further up to pulau tikus, otw to ferringhi. we hung out for like 2 hours and they sent me back to d hotel, luckily my fren didnt insist on going to d ferringhi nite market as i was so exhausted.
come sunday, i managed to sleep in a lil bit longer than saturday, once again no thanks to my hps. and also once again, jus as i get out of bed, my father brought us breakfast and this time it was 'nasi dalca'. i made him a cup of coffee and we all had our breakfast together before packing up to go home. by d time we left d island, it was almost 3pm and 4hours later we're back in kl.
although i had to change some plans i had for d weekend, im glad i went back to penang (and ruined my diet!). if only d swine flu hadn't gotten into our country, i wud've enjoyed my time more and cud've been less cautious. anyway, my getaway was still fun.
